We're going to Disneyland in March, so I thought I'd check it out. Maybe Chris and Jake can take a day and go do some good, right? And did I mention the free park ticket? It's a win-win situation!
We decided to volunteer for Project Linus. They enlist "blanketeers" to make blankets for kids who are sick, traumatized, etc. It was great to let the boys help make blankets for other kids. We got a blanket that someone had made when Josh was in the NICU, so I was able to explain to them that we were doing the same thing for a little boy, just like Josh. They thought that was great.
They helped pick out the fabric, and then each had a job in the making of the blankets.

Their other job was making a card that would go along with the blanket to the child in need.

It was perfect, because we were able to make the blankets at home, which meant I could participate! Horray! I'm sure the kids will be talking about their "Disney blankets" for a while to come.
So, are you looking for a way to teach your kids to do some good for others? Check out Disney's site, and get out there.

What a great family project, and booyah tickets to D-land!!! We can't wait until March. The kids will have so much fun together! So far J.R. isn't tall enough to go on Screamin', but we are hoping he has a growth spurt so he can. He tries every time we go to get on. :) Those workers are sticklers for the rules....rascals.
I saw your blog the other day and read that you are a D-Land freak. We are going in May for the first time with kids (and only my second time) so if you have any good suggestions I would love them!
That is so awesome! I think we're going to Disneyland in May. Maybe we'll do that next year when my kids are just a little older.
That's a really cool idea. What a great way to get them serving while having fun. :o)
Have fun at Disney!!!
